Niagara Region

Niagara Reservation State Park, recognized as one of this nation's most precious parklands, surrounds the mighty Niagara Falls. Numerous islands make up the park, along with the world-famous Prospect Point area. The Visitor Center features an information booth and festival theater featuring a 22 minute version of the History Channel's, "Niagara – A History of the Falls". The Great Lakes Garden, a living map of flowers and seasonal plantings, shows the entire Great Lakes watershed. The Maid of the Mist boat ride brings visitors closer to the falls than you can imagine, while the Cave of the Winds excursion brings you under the mighty roar. Many improvements and new features makes another visit to Niagara Falls a priority for tourists and New Yorkers.

Recreational opportunities at the region's 14 parks abound for visitors of all ages and interests. Fishing and boating in Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Niagara River are outstanding. Thousands enjoy lakeside camping annually, especially at Four Mile Creek, Evangola and Golden Hills State Parks.

Old Fort Niagara Historic Site stands as a reminder of the struggle of early European explorers to control this link to the inner Great Lakes. The fort has exhibits and interpretive programs covering its history since 1726.

The Earl W. Brydges Artpark is an unique park along the Niagara River devoted to the visual and performing arts, while Woodlawn Beach State Park offers a great swimming beach and recreational opportunity on Lake Erie.
